It's the best way to get an authentic picture of the city's social life. An added advantage is that you get to use the German you've learnt in the classroom straight away in conversation with your hosts. Your hosts know the city like the back of their hands, so they'll have lots of good tips on shopping, eating-out, and nightlife.
